The word was made Wednesday by fourth-year Mustang football coach Tim Walsh and Cal Poly concert-master of athletics Don Oberhelman at a press conference in downtown San Luis Obispo.

The distinction of recruits is heavy up front, as 11 linemen signed NLI documents with Cal Poly on Wednesday. In furthermore, the list includes one quarterback, a pair of slotbacks,a linebacker and three players who were both ample receivers and defensive backs in high school.

"In terms of some definitive needs we had, particularly replacing seven seniors on our defensive lines, we have three transfers coming in and several intoxication school recruits to help us build for the future," said Walsh. "This birth is solid for the future of our program on the defensive line.

"On the offensive side, with the liability liabilities of guys like David Mahr and Mark Rodgers at slotback, we had an possibility to recruit three slots who are very good high school football players," Walsh added.
